Bristol Blues Move from Futures League to NECBL
The New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL) announced on Thursday morning that it would be adding a franchise for the second straight year. The Bristol Blues will apparently replace the New Bedford Bay Sox to keep the league’s lineup at 13 teams. The Bay Sox logo no longer appears in the header of the NECBL’s website. Read more here. More Renovations on Tap for Muzzy Field
More renovations are planned for Muzzy Field, home of the first-year Bristol Blues (Summer Collegiate, Futures Collegiate Baseball League), after baseball season ends. The $1.5 million second phase of improvements for the 101-year-old ballpark include putting a new press box behind home plate, extending the roof over the first baseline grandstand and even a new Wrigley Field-style sign with the name of the park. Futures League Formally Adds Bristol Blues to Lineup, Logos Unveiled
The summer collegiate Futures League and the City of Bristol formally announced last week the addition of the Bristol Blues that will begin play at historic Muzzy Field in 2015. The Bristol (CT) city park commissioners Wednesday unanimously backed a deal with the summer collegiate Futures Collegiate Baseball League to use historic Muzzy Field for the next three years.
