The New Target Field: An Exclusive Pictorial Tour

As the Minnesota Twins and $184 million MVP Joe Mauer prepare to take the home diamond for the first time in 2010, we got a sneak peek of the team’s new ballpark on March 12.  Designed by Populous (formerly HOK), Target Field has an impressive modern look and cosmopolitan feel that melds perfectly with glassy Minneapolis skyline just beyond right field.

While departing from the retro ballpark designs of the past decades, nostalgia is not lost at Target Field.  A giant Minnie and Paul home run celebration board dons the view above the centerfield wall; special indoor lounge areas honor Twins greats Harmon Killebrew, Rod Carew, and Kirby Puckett; and historic memorabilia and photos adorn interior walls and suites.

For fans, the park should provide a very intimate experience with plenty of vantage points to watch the game.  For corporate parties, the Budweiser deck is a must with its cozy fire pit for those cool April and (hopefully) October nights.  Enjoy the tour…
