The New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL) announced on Thursday morning that it would be adding a franchise for the second straight year. The Bristol Blues will apparently replace the New Bedford Bay Sox to keep the league’s lineup at 13 teams. The Bay Sox logo no longer appears in the header of the NECBL’s website. Read more here. Cormier Resigns as Bay Sox’s GM, Friar Takes on Role
Mike Friar, VP of Baseball Operations for the summer collegiate New Bedford Bay Sox (New England Collegiate Baseball League), will add general manager to his title, after GM Andrew Cormier stepped down. One reason given for Cormier’s resignation is that “his work location has shifted to Providence,” which tells us that team’s GM role is not a full-time gig. Continue reading

Little Fenway Park Visionary Joins Bay Sox Ownership Group
Pat O’Connor and his wife Beth from Vermont have purchased a share of the summer collegiate New Bedford (MA) Bay Sox (New England Collegiate Baseball League). Mr. O’Connor, a software development manager at IBM, will serve as president of the team. Oh yes, and he operates a pretty nifty mini-Fenway Park he built on his rural property, which he uses to raise money for charity. Read more here.
