PRESS RELEASE – The Torrington Titans are excited to announce the newest addition to the front office staff, Michelle Cowels, as Assistant General Manager for the 2014 season. Michelle worked as a Media Relations intern in Nashua during the 2013 season, helping her gain knowledge to lead her to this position.
During her time in Nashua, she experienced what it was like to start working in the sports industry from the bottom up. The Vice President of Business Development for the Silver Knights, Taylor Gillette, spoke highly of Michelle expressing, “Michelle went above and beyond to help our organization last season by demonstrating her hard work and determination to make it in this type of business. She was one of our most dependable interns that could be held with high responsibility and proved her effort to want to succeed.”
Titans General Manager Joey Abis stated how thrilled he is to have Michelle join the Titans front office staff. Abis said, “Michelle brings all the necessary tools to the table to provide the family fun entertainment at our games that Titans fans have come to recognize.” He went on to say, “She will be a great asset to the Titans in the 2014 season.”
Michelle will be graduating Southern New Hampshire University in May. She will be obtaining a Bachelor’s degree in Sport Management with a minor in Sport and Special Event Planning. Throughout her years at SNHU Michelle has been a valuable asset to the sports department. Mark Hecox, Head Department Chair of the Sport Management Department says, “Michelle exemplified leadership. Whether in the classroom, Sport Management Club, or other service organizations on campus, Michelle led by example. She is a doer that inspires action amongst her peers.”
Michelle is from Derry, NH and cannot wait to see what Torrington has to offer. She stated, “Throughout my college career I was able to work with the YMCA and I hope to combine my knowledge of baseball and community development to make Torrington an even closer-knit family baseball community.”
The Torrington Titans are a member of the Futures Collegiate Baseball League (FCBL). The Torrington Titans provide student-athletes from New England and New England colleges the opportunity to compete and play with the elite players from across the country and to promote them to MLB organizations. The Torrington Titans provide a family friendly, affordable, and fun experience for the communities that we play in.
