Titans Front Office Goes Full-Time with New GM

Torrington Titans New LogoApparently the summer collegiate Torrington Titans (Futures League) haven’t been operating with a full-time front office.  General manager Eddie Gadomski, assistant GM Mallory Jensen and director of player personnel Kim Raimondi have resigned, clearing the way for Joey Abis, 22, to take over as the new “full-time” general manager.  Read more here.

Titans Attempt Oreo Cookie Stacking World Record

It was “Salute to the Oreo” Friday night at Fuessenich Field, as the summer collegiate Torrington Titans (Futures Collegiate Baseball League) attempted to construct the world’s tallest double stuff Oreo cookie in celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Oreo cookie.  Interns have been practicing to pile up the icing to set the mark.  No word yet if they succeeded.

William ‘She Bangs’ Hung to Sing, Bouton to Pitch on July 4th

Lease Secured in Torrington

The Torrington (CT) City Council on Wednesday approved a lease for the new version of the Torrington Titans from the start-up Futures Collegiate Baseball League to use Fuessenich Park. Titans on the Brink?

The Atlantic Collegiate Baseball League’s membership-funded Torrington (CT) Titans have indicated that only 25 percent of their 350 members have renewed for 2011. Team operators indicated that they must hit their membership number by Jan. 7 to move forward.  Last year, 350 members paid $100 each to fund the inaugural Titans.  Read more here.

Titans Debut in Front of 1,100

The Torrington (CT) Titans, the newest franchise in the summer collegiate Atlantic Collegiate Baseball League, made their home debut on Thursday night in front of 1,100 fans at Fuessenich Park.  The actual in park attendance was probably more like 900-600, according to several team sources.  The Titans lost to the New Jersey (Newark) Eagles 6-3.  Read more here.

Titans Partner with Non-Profit for Fundraiser

The Atlantic Collegiate Baseball League’s Torrington Titans are teaming up with the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation for a special fundraiser night at the ballpark during the 2010 season.  On the selected gameday, all walk-up sales will be donated to the JDRF to help advance their mission to find a cure for juvenile diabetes.  Read more here.

It’s the ‘Torrington Titans’ for New ACBL Team

As decided by ticketholders, the new nickname for the Atlantic Collegiate Baseball League franchise that was sold and relocated from Peekskill, NY to Torrington, CT will be known as the Torrington Titans.  The team will begin play at Fussenich Park in 2010.  Read more here.
