Red Wings to Host Groundhog Day Night

Bill Murray’s ‘Extra Innings’ Series Underway

Bill Murray and Brian Doyle-Murray on November 20th launched their new online series “Extra Innings” via Facebook.  The pair wander the minor league ballparks of America, mingle with the locals, heckle a few players, and maybe even catch a bit of the game.  Season 1: Episode 2 was just released Sunday.  Watch episodes here.  Read more here.

Veeck Talks with Media About New Saints Ballpark

St. Paul Saints (American Association) co-owner Mike Veeck took time out of his schedule to talk with KARE 11 news about the team’s new stadium on its way in Lowertown St. Paul.  He takes light-hearted pride in the fact that the Saints are still here today, after local sports columnist Sid Hartman said the team wouldn’t last 45 days back in 1992.   Watch news clip here.

Collateral Development Ramping Up Near Ballpark Site in Lowertown St. Paul

A Caddyshack Sports Bar?  Rooftop venues overlooking the field?  The City of St. Paul’s announcement yesterday that it has purchased the targeted Lowertown land for the proposed new ballpark for the indy pro St. Paul Saints (American Association) has provided extra excitement for developers, who have plans for restaurants, bars, a bakery, and more.  As one developer put it, “It’s going to be just like New York’s SoHo down there.”  Read more and view rendering here.
