New York City has committed to a $5.1 million allocation to upgrade and revitalize Richmond County Bank Ballpark, which will prime it for other uses besides baseball. After more than 2,000 fans submitted new team names as part of the Staten Island Yankees (Single-A, New York-Penn League) “Name The Team” Contest, the team has narrowed the list to five, including the Bridge Trolls, Heroes, Killer Bees, Pizza Rats, and Rock Pigeons.
