Rockers Home Stadium Name to Change to Truist Point

PRESS RELEASE -The High Point Rockers, along with Truist announced today that the teams home stadium of BB&T Point will officially be rebranded as Truist Point this summer. The transition comes as a contribution of its naming rights partnership with the independent Atlantic League franchise.

Rockers Close to Naming Mascot, Final Voting Underway

The High Point Rockers (Independent Professional, Atlantic League) have narrowed the list of possible names for the team’s mascot to nine, including Buck, Giddy Up, Hay Hay, Hobby, Thunder, Hutch, Hype, Ribbie and Splinter.  Fans have until Sunday, April 28th at midnight to vote for their favorite.  Click here to vote.  In cased you missed it, the team unveiled their uniforms last month.  Watch news report here.

Council Takes First Tour of Ballpark Construction Site

Construction fencing surrounds BB&T Point in downtown High Point (NC).  But for the first time, members of the High Point City Council were allowed behind the barrier to see how construction is progressing.  Read more and watch news report here.

High Point Baseball Unveils Three Name-the-Team Finalists

The ownership of the Atlantic League (Independent Professional) franchise coming to High Point (NC) has unveiled the three finalists for the the club’s name-the-team contest, which include the Dragon Claws, Rockers, and Splinters.  Fans can vote now for their favorite name.  The team’s name and logo set will be unveiled on July 21.  Learn more and vote here.

High Point Breaks Ground on New Ballpark

High Point (NC) broke ground today on its new $36-million, multi-use stadium to house a relocating Atlantic League (Independent Professional) franchise.  In addition to the traditional turning of dirt, officials unveiled the name and logo for the new facility — BB&T Point Stadium.  Read more and watch video here.

High Point Ballpark Groundbreaking Set for April 11

The official groundbreaking ceremony for High Point’s stadium will be at 11:30 a.m. on April 11 at the construction site at the corner of N. Elm Street and Gatewood Avenue.  The stadium will serve as the home of the relocating Bridgeport Bluefish (Independent Professional, Atlantic League).  Read more here.

Making Room for High Point Ballpark, Building Demo to Begin Dec. 1

In less than two weeks, a big undertaking begins in North Carolina’s furniture capital.  The demolition of old buildings will begin December 1st, the first of many steps to make room for a downtown baseball stadium to house a franchise from the Atlantic League (Independent Professional).  Read more here.

The High Point (NC) City Council voted 8-1 Monday to direct High Point staff to come up with an alternative financing plan for the proposed downtown stadium to be built for an Atlantic League (Independent Professional) franchise.  Read more here.

Vote Delayed on High Point Ballpark Project

Guilford County (NC) commissioners put off for 60 to 90 days a decision about helping High Point pay for a $30 million baseball stadium. Commissioners said Thursday that they will use the time to form a “working group” with High Point leaders to determine whether to go along with the project.  Read more here.

Imagining High Point’s Downtown with New Ballpark

Without the Furniture Market in town, the streets of High Point (NC) can seem almost ghost-like.  But, the city is hoping to change that with the new ballpark.  Last night, people were asked to envision restaurants, shops, hotels, and condos surrounding the yet-to-be-built ballpark.  Read more and view news report here.

High Point (NC) Chooses Ballpark Builder

The City of High Point (NC) has picked Samet Corporation to lead the design build team for the new multi-use stadium downtown for an Atlantic League (Independent Professional) baseball franchise.  The company also built BB&T Ballpark in Winston-Salem and First National Bank Field in Greensboro.  Read more here.

HiToms Extend Ballpark Lease

PRESS RELEASE – The High Point-Thomasville HiToms have agreed in principle with the city of Thomasville to remain at Historic Finch Field.

More Than $20 Million Estimated for New High Point Ballpark

Backers of a proposed downtown baseball stadium and multipurpose sports venue in High Point (NC) haven’t formally requested city funding, but some figures that have been bandied about have been in the $20 million range for the total cost of the facility.  Read more here.

HiToms Hire Asonye as Director of Broadcasting

PRESS RELEASE – The High Point – Thomasville HiToms have named Nkwa Asonye as the franchise’s Director of Broadcasting and Media Relations for the 2014 season, effective immediately.
