PRESS RELEASE – The Lansing Lugnuts released their 2011 official schedule on Wednesday, featuring the popular Crosstown Showdown against Michigan State University alongside brand new Tuesday Dollar Deal Days and Wednesday Ladies Nights.
“We are very excited about the upcoming schedule,” Lugnuts General Manager Pat Day said. “The 2011 season will feature great value for our fans along with terrific fun all season long.”
The Lugnuts and Spartans crack open the 2011 season against one another on Tuesday, April 5th, the fifth annual Crosstown Showdown presented by Auto-Owners Insurance. The first 2,000 fans at Cooley Law School Stadium will receive a commemorative baseball.
The Midwest League season opens on a Labatt Blue Light Thirsty Thursday, April 7th, pitting the Lugnuts against intrastate rival West Michigan in 7:05 p.m., with a post-game DJ Patio Party kicking off the returning.
The next night, April 8th, sees the return of the wildly popular Eat-a-Palooza, featuring totally free food all night in an all-you-can-eat extravaganza.
NEW for 2011, every Tuesday is Dollar Deal Day, with $1 fountain drinks, $1 hot dogs, and $1 ice cream sandwiches!
NEW for 2011, every Wednesday is Ladies Night, with free massages and salon services, a shopping boutique area, the opportunity to win a date with a Lugnuts player, and featured food and drink specials such as champagne, chocolate-covered strawberries, martinis, Long Island iced teas and cosmos.
The Thirsty Thursday Concert Series will be rocking Cooley Law School Stadium all season long, welcoming in Starfarm (April 28th), Steppin’ in it (May 26th), former Grateful Dead keyboardist T.C. & Friends (June 2nd); Don Middlebrook & Living Soul (July 7th), Backbeat (August 4th), Echoes of Pink Floyd (August 25th), and Global Village (September 1st).
Come the weekend, the Lugnuts will be lighting up the skies with 20 LAFCU Fireworks spectaculars, including every Friday and Saturday night starting in May.
Sunday is Kids Day, with great fun in store for the whole family. NEW for 2011, we’re inviting kids to play catch on the field with their parents before the game. After the game, Kids Run the Bases just like their favorite Lugnuts.
The 2011 schedule also includes the return of Bark in the Park (June 26th) along with exciting new nights like Yooper Night (April 15th), Detroit Red Wings (May 14th), Biker Night (June 4th), Detroit Tigers Night (July 8th), Harry Potter Night (July 23rd), Detroit Lions Night (August 5th).
Myron Noodleman comes back to Lansing on a May 21st Family Fun Night; Country Night returns on June 24th with a special concert by Brian Lorente and the Usual Suspects Band; and there are three Auto-Owners Insurance Bobblehead Giveaways (May 21st, June 25th, and August 26th).
