PRESS RELEASE – The Richmond Flying Squirrels have announced a “Name the Mascot” contest, which will afford fans the opportunity to submit names for consideration as the official mascot of the Flying Squirrels. The contest will take place on the website of The Richmond Times Dispatch, at http://www.TimesDispatch.com. The contest will begin on Monday, December 14th and continue through Sunday, December 20th.
“Helping to name the mascot is another opportunity for our fans to have some fun while they take ownership in their new team,” said Flying Squirrels’ Vice President & COO Todd “Parney” Parnell. “With the creativity fans showed during the name the team contest, we can’t wait to see what they come up with.”
Fans can enter their name for the Flying Squirrels’ new mascot by logging on to http://www.TimesDispatch.com and entering the keyword “contests.” The club received over 15,000 entries in its “Name the Team” contest.
The winning entrant will receive a personal appearance by the Flying Squirrels’ mascot at his or her home and a 20-person picnic at a 2010 home game. The Flying Squirrels expected to unveil the new “face” of the franchise within the next two months.
