Ex GM Talks New Ballpark in Richmond

“The Blind Side” Star Tosses First Pitch in Altoona

Quinton Aaron who starred in “The Blind Side” movie with Oscar winner Sandra Bullock, threw out the first pitch at the Altoon (PA) Curve game on Saturday at Blair County Ballpark.  Aaron will be reappearing on Monday to speak in front of thousands of kids at the ballpark on behalf of the “Quarterbacks of Life” program.  The event is from 9:00 a.m. to noon.  Read more here and view news clip here.

Squirrels Talking New Ballpark, Want to Partner to Get it Done

Senators FanFest Set for April 10

Preserving Old Chattanooga Stadium

The Engel Foundation, a group organized to preserve 80-year-old, 5,997-seat Engel Stadium that was once home to the Chattanooga Lookouts, is trying to raise $150,000 to make basic repairs to the old park.   In December, the stadium was named to the National Register of Historic Places.  Read more here.

‘Connecticut’ Sculpture Gets New Home

The American Indian sculpture known as “Connecticut” located near the entrance of The Diamond in Richmond is being relocated to the Lucky Strike power plant building in Richmond’s Tobacco Row.  With the Flying Squirrels replacing the former AAA Richmond Braves, folks felt that the sculpture just didn’t quite fit the ballpark’s new theme.  Read more here.
