Despite Economic Collapse, Venezuela Building Largest Ballpark in South America

Venezuela is reportedly building the largest and most modern sports stadium in all of South America.  The 37,000-seat venue will have five levels of stands and a total of 350 shops and food stands.  It is expected to open in September 2018. Venezuelan Dictator Spends on Baseball in Midst of Economic Collapse

Baseball is a religion in Venezuela.  But this season, no one is in the mood.  Venezuelans are outraged at the government’s decision to make $10 million available for importing equipment and paying players’ salaries at a preferential rate, while medicines for cancer treatment remain scarce, and all but the most basic foods remain out of reach of most Venezuelans.  Read more here.
