PRESS RELEASE – We are asking fans to help decide the name of the latest fuzzy addition. This new furry friend will be a female River Rascal to go along with the Whitecaps main mascot Crash the River Rascal.
A naming contest will be held until noon on February 24. Submissions can be submitted via the Whitecaps facebook page (facebook.com/wmwcaps) on twitter (twitter.com/wmwhitecaps) with the hashtag of #newcapsmascot or emailed to promotions@whitecapsbaseball.com
The winning submission will receive a prize pack including tickets to opening day, some mascot merchandise, and a personal visit with the new mascot.
The new mascot will be revealed on opening day!
Her back story: Her home was flooded when the Grand River’s level rose last year. She floated down the Grand River until she came across Fifth Third ballpark. Crash and Franky opened their doors to bring her in. After trying some of the best food in all of Minor League Baseball, she decided to stay in the greater Grand Rapids area. Finding a love of baseball, and seeing the fun that Crash and Franky had on the field, she wanted to be a part of game day activities. After some negotiations, a free agent contract was signed and she is now the newest addition to the Whitecaps entertainment staff.
