PRESS RELEASE – The Wisconsin Rapids Rafters have announced the 2013 season will be highlighted with three bobblehead nights; two Rosco P. Rafter bobbleheads and one commemorating the 100,000th fan who entered through the Witter Field gates to enjoy Rafters Baseball.
Join the Rafters Friday, June 7th, for the Advanced Disposal 100,000th Fan bobblehead giveaway. On June 6th, 2012, Brent Gulecnhyn made Rafters history as he was the 100,000th fan to walk through the Rafters gates. The Rafters are the 3rd fastest Northwoods League team to reach the 100,000 fan milestone. To remember this piece of Rafters history the Rafters and Advanced Disposal have had a Brent Gulecnhyn bobblehead produced.
On Friday, June 28th, the Rafters and Element Mobile will be presenting the first ever “Don’t Text and Drive” Rosco P. Rafter bobblehead. In addition to the bobblehead, the Rafters and Element Mobile will showcase a texting while driving simulation prior to the game against the Eau Claire Express that evening.
Saturday, July 20th will feature a Rosco P. Rafter Running bobblehead. The morning of July 20th, fans and runners can head down to Witter Field and join Rosco and the Marshfield Clinic for the 4th Annual Sunrise Rotary 5K. The run will begin and end at Witter Field and all pre-registered runners will receive a bobblehead doll. All proceeds will be given to help the fight against polio and to other local non-profit organizations. Rosco will also lead a children’s run on the infield that morning.
The Wisconsin Rapids Rafters are members of the 16-team summer collegiate Northwoods League. The Northwoods League has more teams, plays more games, and draws more fans than any other Summer Collegiate League in North America. In 2013 the Northwoods League will celebrate its 20th season.
