Amarillo Breaks Ground on Double-A Ballpark

City of Amarillo (TX) officials unveiled what they envision as Amarillo’s long-awaited $45.5 million Field of Dreams during a groundbreaking ceremony Thursday afternoon just south of City Hall.  Read more and view photos here.

Blaze and Salinas Still Talking New Ballpark, Relocation

City leaders said earlier this week they are continuing to work with Bakersfield Blaze owner D.G. Elmore on developing a ballpark as well as a hotel, restaurant and retail complex on the corner of John and Abbott streets in Salinas (CA).  Read more here.

Elmore Eyes New Property in Salinas for Blaze Relocation

Bakersfield Blaze (Single-A, California League) owner D.G. Elmore says that, following an unsuccessful effort to build a ballpark on the Front Street property of Hayward Lumber in Salinas (CA), he is cautiously optimistic that he will close a similar deal on property at the corner of John and Abbott streets.  Read more here.

Pondering the Future of the Blaze

Bakersfield (CA) has had a minor-league baseball team for 73 years.  For at least 29 of those years, team officials have wanted to play in a new stadium.  That desire hasn’t changed under the frustrated current ownership.  Read more here.

Blaze Break Off Talks with Salinas Property Owner

After eight months of negotiations, the Single-A Bakersfield Blaze (California League) broke off talks with Hayward Lumber on Monday to build a ballpark for the club on Front Street next to the proposed Alisal Marketplace in Salinas (CA).  The team is still eyeing three other unidentified sites in Salinas, but time is running out for a 2016 relocation.  Read more here and here.

Smooth Blazing for First Pitch to Salinas

Blaze Make Pitch in Salinas

D.G. Elmore, owner of Elmore Sports Group, met with the Salinas (CA) City Council Tuesday to pitch his idea of bringing the Single-A Bakersfield Blaze (California League) to town for the start of the 2016 season.  Elmore said he hopes to be a part of the economic development in Salinas surrounding the long-awaited Alisal Marketplace housing and shopping project.  Read more here.
