Homer Stryker Field to Host Michigan’s Largest Reggae Festival

The festival will be taking place August 27th-29th at Mayor’s Riverfront Park, Homer Stryker Field. We are very excited to be making this transition and working with the Growlers in this endeavor.

The Kalamazoo’s Island Festival is the largest Caribbean Music Festival in the Midwest. Great emphasis is placed on the available variety and quality of Jamaican and Caribbean inspired cuisine and crafts. For entertainment, the live Reggae music line-up runs all day and ranges from the top local talent to well-known regional and national headliners. Join us daily to experience quality music under sunny blue skies, and stay through the evening to enjoy irie tunes under the beautiful moon and stars.

Making their first performance at the Island Festival are: Rumblefish, DiMaschine, Midwest Hype and Irie Trinity. Favorites returning to the Island Festival include: Uprizin Steel band, Gizzae, Lion Height, Indika, Rhythm Life Collective, and home town favorite, Zion Lion, will again close out the festival. Join Rhythm Life Collective for an all age interactive drum and dance workshop at 2pm Saturday. Headlining the 20th annual Island Festival on Thursday is Dubtonic Kru, voted one of the top 7 bands coming out of Jamaica in 2015. On Friday, Lazo, a former member of Bob Marley’s band, the Wailer, headlines. Saturday’s headliner is UK Legend Pato Banton and the Now Generation band.
