Baseball fans will be able to keep track of Kalamazoo Growlers (Summer Collegiate, Northwoods League) games with a new scoreboard this season. The Kalamazoo (MI) City Commission approved the purchase of a $250,000 LED video display board from Daktronics, splitting the cost with the baseball team. It will replace a 14-year-old scoreboard that has become expensive to repair and uses hard-to-find parts. Read more here.

Back in December, the Kalamazoo Growlers (Summer Collegiate, Northwoods League) launched a second name-the-mascot contest after the original name Barlee ran into trademark trouble with the Hillsboro Hops (Single-A, Northwest League), who already had a mascot named Barley.
