Synthetic Turf Installed at QuikTrip Park

Grand Prairie Airhogs LogoPRESS RELEASE – The Grand Prairie AirHogs announced today that the new synthetic turf field has been completely installed at QuikTrip Park. Hellas Sports Construction began the $1.1 million project to replace the natural grass in November and completed the installation last week.

Grand Prairie AirHogs New Turf“The field looks great,” said AirHogs president Scott Berry. “I think the players and the fans will really enjoy the new playing surface. This gives us the chance to do so many more events at QuikTrip Park like concerts and additional baseball tournaments. The first concert is next month. We’ve got some great high school baseball tournaments already scheduled as well as some major college baseball tournaments. The Western Athletic Conference Tournament will be played here May 22-26. The WAC has some really good teams in the conference including two local schools, Dallas Baptist and UT Arlington. It should be a very busy 2013 out at QuikTrip Park.”

Matrix Turf is the new playing surface at QuikTrip Park. The innovative synthetic turf system will feature Hellas’ proprietary Matrix Turf Baseball Hi-Slide – a highly durable artificial grass designed for the heavy traffic areas on baseball fields. QuikTrip Park’s Matrix Turf is designed to be utilized day-in-day-out and under weather conditions that would previously limit field use on the old natural grass baseball field.

The landscaped areas off the field are turfed with Hellas’ Grasso Sportscape – a plush synthetic turf designed to reduce water usage and maintenance costs by replacing the natural grass areas that often complement sports fields.
