Clovis Pioneers Step Out, Ruidoso Osos Step In

Just two weeks after a logo was selected for the Pecos League’s Clovis (NM) Pioneers, the team is apparently a no go.   The Pioneers will be replaced by the Ruidoso Osos, which will play at White Mountain Sports Complex in the small (pop. 9,262) Rocky Mountain vacation village of Ruidoso (NM).

We’re not sure why things came to a halt for the Pecos League in Clovis.  One problem rumored is that John Harris, the new field manager for the American Association’s Amarillo (TX) Sox, holds the lease to the ballpark where he was set to manage the Pioneers, not the Pecos League.  Whatever the case, everything seemed pretty sewn up in Clovis, according to a Clovis News Journal Q&A interview with Pecos League Commissioner Andrew Dunn  just a few days ago.  Read detailed update on Clovis here from Jan. 18.
