PRESS RELEASE – The Southern Illinois Miners have announced the promotional schedule for the upcoming season. The 2010 schedule will feature the return of nightly promotions for each day of week including Two 4 Tuesday sponsored by Withers Broadcasting and FANtastic Friday Fireworks sponsored by WPSD Local 6 and River Radio.
The opening series against division rival River City will feature the first ever Sci-Fi Night at Rent One Park on Friday, May 21. The following day the first Showcase Saturday of the season will be the always popular Bark in the Park as fans are invited to bring their dogs to the game.
Saturday, June 12 there will be a celebration of motorcycles with the annual Motorcycle Madness Night highlighted by a pregame motorcycle parade on the field. Another returning fan favorite is Jimmy Buffett Night, scheduled for Saturday, July 31. The night will feature a postgame concert by Parrot Head certified artist Captain Josh.
For the second year in a row, Pro Wrestling Night will be on the promotional schedule with an action-packed pregame wrestling match on the concourse. Pro Wrestling Night is set for Saturday, Aug. 14.
On Friday, Aug. 27, the Miners will celebrate the world of video games with Gamers Night. Fans will be able to take a break from the game on the field to play a few games on the concourse.
“We’re very excited about this year’s promotional schedule,” said Miners Director of Entertainment and Promotions Chris Hagstrom. “Not only do we have new nights like Sci-Fi Night where we encourage everyone to dress up as their favorite Sci-Fi character, but we also have nights like Jimmy Buffett Night and Bark at the Park that have become staples of our season that everyone looks forward to.”
Promotional nights are subject to change. The Miners open the season on May 20 at home against River City.
