PRESS RELEASE – The Auburn Doubledays announced today the hiring of Eli Pearlstein as the “voice of the Doubledays” for the 2012 season. Pearlstein will serve as the team’s radio play-by-play broadcaster for all away games, which will air on WAUB 98.1FM and 1590AM. Pearlstein will also serve as the public address announcer at Falcon Park during all Doubledays home games.
Pearlstein comes to Auburn after spending the winter in Washington, DC where he served as the men’s and women’s basketball play-by-play broadcaster for the University of the District of Columbia (NCAA Division II). Pearlstein’s previous baseball experience includes stops in Kannapolis, NC as the #2 broadcaster for the Kannapolis Intimidators (Single-A affiliate of the Chicago White Sox), and Aberdeen, MD as a video intern and pre-game host for the Aberdeen Ironbirds (Short season Single-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles).
Pearlstein can’t wait to get started in his role as “voice of the Doubledays”. “I have heard Doubledays fans are some of the best and most passionate in baseball, so having the opportunity to interact with them all summer will certainly be a rewarding experience!” Doubledays General Manager Adam Winslow thinks the fans will enjoy hearing the same voice no matter whether the team is playing at home or on the road. “Eli’s previous baseball experience allows him to serve the team in a couple different capacities, and we believe Doubledays fans will enjoy his presence on the air throughout the 2012 season.”
The 2012 season kicks off on Monday, June 18 at the Batavia Muckdogs. The Doubledays play their home opener the next night on Tuesday, June 19th at 7:05 PM at Leo Pinckney Field at Falcon Park also against Batavia.
