Connecticut Tigers Unveil 2013 NYPL All-Star Game Logo

The Single-A Connecticut Tigers this morning unveiled the logo for the 2013 New York-Penn League All-Star Game, which the team is hosting at Dodd Stadium on Tuesday, August 13.  To build intrigue, the Tigers shared parts of the logo with fans via the team’s Facebook page and Twitter over the past week.

Rink Ready, Warmth Challenging Ice at Bowman Field

Construction Begins on Hockey Rink at Bowman Field, Season Begins Oct. 24

World’s Tallest Observation Ferris Wheel Coming to Staten Island

New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg is expected to announce today that the world’s tallest observation ferris wheel will be built next to Richmond County Bank Ballpark at St. George, home of the Single-A Staten Island Yankees (New York-Penn League).  At 625 feet, the $230 million “New York Wheel” will be taller than the observation wheels in Singapore and London.  Read more here.  View renderings here and here.

Sale of Oneonta Outlaws Close

Oneonta (NY) businessman Gary Laing expected to review the final contract for the sale of the summer collegiate Oneonta Outlaws (Perfect Game League) on Monday.  He is buying the club from Keith Rogers and Dan Scaring, who relocated the franchise from Saratoga (NY) to Damaschke Field in 2010, after the Single-A Oneonta Tigers (New-York Penn League) split for Connecticut.   Read more here.

Celebrating the Arrival of Outdoor Hockey at Bowman Field

Shorebirds Attendance Highest Since 2002

PRESS RELEASE – The Delmarva Shorebirds, class “A” affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles, are pleased to announce that a total of 231,194 fans attended 70 Shorebirds home games at Arthur W. ValleyCats Set New Franchise Attendance Marks

Attendance for Baby Bombers Slips by Nearly 30 Percent

New ownership and $1 million in capital improvements to Richmond County Bank Ballpark hasn’t stopped attendance for the Single-A Staten Island Yankees (New York-Penn League) from dropping by 1,631 per game compared to last year.  The dip is being blamed on the economy and this summer’s extreme heat.  Read comprehensive coverage here.

Crosscutters Satisfied with Hockey Arrangement

The Single-A Lowell Spinners (New York-Penn League) turn back the clock to 1912 tonight by donning replica jerseys in the style of the Lowell Grays when they take on the Staten Island Yankees. Cyclones to Give Away 18,000 Jerseys for ‘Jersday Thursdays’
