PRESS RELEASE – Na Koa Ikaika Maui is set to begin their second exciting season of professonal independent baseball on the Island when they open the 2011 Season May 26th and host the 2010 GBL Champion Chico Outlaws in a rematch of last season’s Championship Series.
Both the Team and the League have gone thru restructuring the past six months in order to bring great baseball in a “Fun Family Filled Enviorment” back to Maui in 2011.
The Golden Baseball League has taken a major step forward this season by merging with two other Independent Professional Leagues to form the new “North American Baseball League” (NAL). The Northern and United Leagues have joined the Golden League to establsh a better and more competitive league that will stretch from Hawaii to Canada to Texas and back East.
The addition of several new teams to the North American League along with various changes in the schedule is what caused the delay in officially announcing the 2011 Season in Maui.
“We wanted to be 100% sure that everything was set and finalized with the League’s schedule before we announced our plans for 2011,” said Western Sports & Entertainment Group Managing Partner Harris Tulchin. “Many teams wanted to come aboard and join the new NAL so deadlines were extended which caused the temporary delay in getting the 2011 Schedule out”.
Besides the League’s major restructuring, Na Koa Ikaika Maui has also undergone a transition of their own for 2011.
Western Sports & Entertainment Group,LLC (WSEG) has come in and taken control of the everyday operatons of the team. WSEG is a major Sports Company that owns not only Na Koa Ikaika Maui but the rights in 2012 to Hilo, Portland, Palm Springs, and Southern California in addition to many Stadiums.
The complete 2011 Schedule will be released tomorrow.
