PRESS RELEASE – The Cedar Rapids Kernels have selected Morgan Hawk to be the play-by-play broadcaster for all 140 Kernels home and road games in the upcoming 2011 season.
Hawk, 24, is a native of Bloomfield, IA and a graduate of Davis County HS (2005) and the University of Iowa (2009). He currently is the play-by-play announcer for Cedar Rapids Xavier basketball on the Kernels’ flagship station, 1450 KMRY AM, and was a radio broadcast assistant for the Kernels during the 2008 and 2009 seasons. Prior to joining the Kernels, he worked in Advertising Sales at Yellowbook. He joins Brandon Clemens and Wes Cooling, who joined the Kernels the first week of December, as the newest additions to the Kernels Front Office Staff.
The Kernels open the tenth season in Perfect Game Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium on Monday, April 11 at 6:35 pm against the Wisconsin TimberRattlers. Season tickets and 10-game anytime coupon books are on sale now at www.kernels.com, or in person at the stadium. Individual game tickets go on sale Monday, March 21, 2011 at 10 am.
