Ghosts Break Single Game Attendance Record, Welcome 500,000th Fan

PRESS RELEASE – On a night that was one for the record books the Casper Ghosts, the Pioneer league affiliate of the Colorado Rockies, welcomed their 500,000th fan thru the gates at Mike Lansing Field. July 30, 2010 is a date that Casper Ghosts fans may never forget. Colorado Rockies first baseman Todd Helton made his Casper Ghosts debut as the team’s designated hitter after joining the club on a rehab assignment. The appearance of the Rockies franchise player also sparked the Ghosts setting the franchises all time single game attendance mark of 3,713 at the 2,500 seat Mike Lansing Field.

The huge crowd also meant the 500,000th fan would come thru the gates a few days earlier than expected. Darold Moss of Douglas, Wyoming found himself covered in confetti and on live local television as he entered the park.

“I’m surprised and thrilled” Moss told KTWO’s Denise Pernula as he accepted his gifts. “I love coming here. It’s great” a slightly stunned Moss added. Moss received an autographed Todd Helton Casper Ghosts jersey, two 2011 season tickets and a bagful of Ghosts merchandise.

“Next to the first game in team history this has to be the one of the most memorable nights we have ever had” General Manager Mike Sandler said.

“What this means to the team and the town is hard to put into words” The General Manager added as he watched the fans stream in like never before.

Helton will be in town thru Sunday and the feeling is that the record may not even last 24 hours.

“Todd is scheduled to start at first base on Saturday and interest is so high that we are using pencil for the record books this weekend. It will be something they will be talking about in town for years to come and nobody wants to miss it” Chris Maxwell, the teams Assistant General Manager said the next morning

General Admission tickets are available for Saturday but the team did mention that there were some view and reserved seats available Sunday’s 5:05pm game.

For tickets or more information please call the Casper ghosts at 307-232-1111 or go to ghostsbaseball.com.
