Selig Blames Ballpark Troubles for Key Tampa Bay Departures, Rays Owners Ponders Move to Montreal

Tampa Bay Rays LogoCommissioner Bud Selig traced the Tampa Bay Rays’ inability to retain key personnel — at least in part — to the inability to secure a new ballpark.  Read more here.  Meanwhile, Rays owners Stuart Sternberg has reportedly had discussions with wealthy Wall Street associates about moving the Rays to Montreal.  Read more here.

  1. Did one ever think it is the high prices as well. One does not get much bang for the buck at a baseball game anymore. Way over priced and filled with to much drama!!

    They should have jumped on Charlotte and built a major league ballpark in the same location they just built the Knights stadium. Charlotte could easily support a major league franchise

    If they do move to Montreal don’t be shocked if you see them wanting to place a triple a team in Ottawa.

    The Rays’ management team and MLB have shown a great lack of imagination in trying to solve the attendance problem. All you hear is “build a new stadium” or “move the team.” This whole thing looks like a train wreck now.
