Beach Bums Announce New Voice

Traverse City Beach Bums LogoPRESS RELEASE – The Traverse City Beach Bums will have a new voice to go along with their new radio station this season as Kevin Burke will be joining the Beach Bums as the team’s broadcaster.

Traverse City Beach Bums Announce New FoiceBurke comes to Traverse City following a season with the Pensacola Blue Wahoos in the Southern League. For the Cincinnati AA affiliate, he provided radio play-by-play and color for all 70 home games and 26 road games. Additionally he worked in media relations, writing press notes and feature stories while maintaining the Blue Wahoos social media accounts.

During the baseball off-season, Kevin is the women’s basketball play-by-play broadcaster for High Point University (Big South Conference – NCAA D-I).

A 2012 graduate of Virginia Tech, Burke was heavily involved in the media, spending two years as an intern for the Virginia Tech IMG Sports Network, handling play-by-play duties for a variety of sports as well as working with the broadcast crews for men’s and women’s basketball. While a student at VT, Kevin also worked with the Salem Red Sox (Carolina – A+), assisting on broadcasts and in media relations.

The Traverse City Beach Bums are members of the Frontier League, an independent baseball league WIth teams in seven Midwest states.  The Beach Bums are entering their ninth season of play in 2014.  Season tickets and individual game tickets are now on sale.  The Beach Bums will be playing their season opener at Wuerfel Park on a FANtastic Fireworks Friday, May 23.  First pitch will be at 7:05 PM with gates opening an hour prior.  For more information, please call 231-943-0100.
