PRESS RELEASE – The Reading Fightin Phils, Double-A affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies, have announced that Eric Freeman and Brian Hoeper have joined the front office as Director of Food and Beverages and Operations Manager, respectively.
“The Fightins obviously have a very strong relationship with the Flying Squirrels since both Chuck Domino and Todd Parnell are in leadership roles with Richmond,” said Fightin Phils General Manager Scott Hunsicker. “It was through these contacts that we came to meet both Eric and Brian. Eric brings years of forward-thinking food and beverage knowledge to our organization. Brian’s versatility makes him a great fit to head our operations department. With the addition of these two go-getters to our Fightins family, our operation continues to grow and improve.”
Freeman, 31, will head the team’s food and beverage department after spending the past three seasons with Richmond as their Assistant Director of Food and Beverage. He previously worked with the Daytona Cubs of the Florida State League for six seasons as Director of Tickets (2006-09) and Director of Food and Beverage (2010). He got his start in the minor leagues through an internship with the team in 2005.
A native of Muncie, Indiana, Freeman graduated from Ball State University in 2005 with a B.S. in Sports Management. He currently lives in Muhlenberg Township.
Hoeper will oversee the franchise’s operations department that includes maintenance of the ballpark, event preparation, and staffing of game day employees. He spent the 2013 season as an operations intern with the Flying Squirrels. Hoeper also held an internship for two seasons with the Princeton Rays of the Appalachian League in 2011 and 2012.
The 23-year old graduated from Trine University with a Bachelor’s in Business Administration in his hometown of Angola, Indiana. He currently lives in West Lawn.
