Rollins Takes a Ballpark Pause

Orange County (FL) commissioners were set to vote Tuesday on a key funding mechanism needed to build a new stadium at Rollins College for the Tars and the Single-A Brevard County Manatees (Florida State League), but that vote was put off because of concerns by Rollins’ board of trustees.  Read more here.

Ballpark Traffic and Parking Study Up Next in Winter Park

As the city of Winter Park (FL) awaits approval from Orange County for plans to build a new minor league baseball stadium where Alfond Stadium at Harper-Shepherd Field is now, the city is launching a study of the traffic patterns leading to the site and what parking issues need to be resolved.  Read more here.

Manatees Relocating to Winter Park

The City of Winter Park (FL), the Single-A Brevard County Manatees (Florida State League), and Rollins College have reached a tentative deal to bring the minor league baseball team to Winter Park, beginning with the 2016 season.  Alfond Stadium, where Rollins College currently plays, will be rebuilt into a 2,500-seat venue which the college and Manatees will share.  Read more and watch news report here.
