Renovations on Tap for Home of Wilmington Sharks
Commissioners in New Hanover County (NC) voted 4-0 Monday in favor of spending about $50,000 to help with improvements to Buck Hardee Field, home of the summer collegiate Wilmington Sharks (Coastal Plain League). The Sharks will pay for half of the $325,000 renovation project, with three government entities picking up the tab for the other half. Read more here and here.

Sharks Employee Dies at Ballpark
The summer collegiate Wilmington Shark (Coastal Plain League) called off their game with the Fayetteville SwampDogs Monday night, as the team’s devoted equipment manager Kevin Cerasuolo collapsed and died in the team’s clubhouse just before the the Sharks were scheduled to take batting practice. Bobby Cox Talking Pro Ball in Wilmington (NC)
Former Atlanta Braves skipper Bobby Cox recently visted with officials in Wilmington (NC) to discuss the return of pro ball to the Port City. The city council is scheduled to discuss Cox’s visit and a potential new ballpark at a workshop scheduled for Dec. 16. Wilmington Sharks Extend Lease Through 2016
Despite rumors about the possible return of professional baseball to Wilmington (NC), the city and the summer collegiate Wilmington Sharks (Coastal Plain League) and have quietly worked out a deal to extend the Sharks’ lease of Buck Hardee Field for five more years.
