Williamsport (PA) Mayor Gabriel Campana announced that he has successfully negotiated a corporate naming rights deal for Bowman Field, home of the Single-A Williamsport Crosscutters (New York-Penn League). Plagued by low attendance and financial challenges, the Williamsport Outlaws (Federal Hockey League) cancelled their home finale at Bowman Field, the summer home of the Single-A Williamsport Crosscutters (New York-Penn League). PRESS RELEASE – The Federal Hockey League is proud to announce that the Williamsport Outlaws will host the “1st Annual FHL All Star Classic” on Airmen’s Pond at Historic Bowman Field in Williamsport, PA.
The hockey rink has been built for the Federal Hockey League’s Williamsport Outlaws at Bowman Field, but “comfortable October temperatures” have kept players off of the ice, as they try to prepare for the team’s inaugural full-outdoor season at the historic baseball park. The Single-A Williamsport Crosscutters (New York-Penn League) raised concerns when it was announced that an outdoor pro hockey team was coming to Bowman Field. The baseball team’s biggest issue was making sure the field would be returned to normal after the hockey season, and that’s been resolved.
