A new rendering of the Monongalia County Ballpark currently under construction for the West Virginia University Mountaineers baseball team (and possibly a Single-A New York-Penn League club) in Morgantown (WV) has surfaced. The West Virginia University Mountaineers closed out Hawley Field with 12-6 win over the University of Texas Longhorns Sunday before a crowd of 2,237 — the second-largest crowd ever to watch a game at the 44-year-old ballpark. Members of West Virginia University’s Board of Governors on Thursday unanimously approved the purchase of a seven-acre property for the university’s new baseball stadium, which is also expected to house a relocated Single-A club.
