The summer collegiate version of the Jamestown Jammers (Prospect League) kicked off their inaugural season Wednesday night in a rain-shortened game at Russell E. Deithrick Jr. Park. The previous incarnation of the Jammers (Single-A, New York-Penn League) relocated to Morgantown (WV) in the off season and became the West Virginia Black Bears. Watch news report here.
The new Monongalia County (WV) ballpark opened last Friday in front of a crowd of more than 2,500 people who watched the West Virginia Mountaineers beat the Butler Bulldogs, 6-5, in 13 innings. Read more and view photos here.
West Virginia officials, citing winter weather that slowed construction, will delay the opening of the new Monongalia County Ballpark under construction for the West Virginia University Mountaineers and West Virginia Black Bears (Single-A, New York-Penn League).
