Parish Near Baton Rouge Eyeballing Double-A Club

Livingston (LA) Parish near Baton Rouge is reportedly in talks with the owner of an existing Double-A club about building a new $30 million ballpark and relocating the team.  The Southern League’s attendance-challenged (#212) Huntsville (AL) Stars and (#181) Jackson (TN) Generals (formerly West Tennessee Diamond Jaxx) would seem to be the most likely targets.  Read more here.

Diamond Jaxx Seeking $2.25 Million for Ballpark Improvements

The owners of the West Tennessee Diamond Jaxx are asking the city of Jackson for $2.25 million for Pringles Park to fund a new patio, an expansion of the parks playing surface to accommodate college football games, and a redesign of the ballpark’s facade along I-40.  The intial resolution presented was pulled to put together more details for the city council.  The proposal provides that the project would be funded via tax increment financing.  Read more here.
