Wenatchee AppleSox Sold

PRESS RELEASE – The Wenatchee AppleSox have been sold by founder Jim Corcoran to Jose Oglesby, a former Microsoft manager. The team, entering its 19th year, will continue to play at Paul Thomas Sr. Field on the campus of Wenatchee Valley College. Assistant general manager and co-owner Ken Osborne will remain with the AppleSox and has been promoted to the team’s general manager and chief operating officer. AppleSox Trade Red/Gray for Green in Ballpark Facelift

No more red/faded pink Kingdome seats for Paul Thomas Sr. Baseball Stadium on the campus of Wenatchee Valley College, as the summer collegiate Wenatchee AppleSox (West Coast League) held their home opener Tuesday night against the Bend Elks in front of a crowd of 1,195.  Seats, paint, and signage are all new.  View pre-completion photos here and here.

AppleSox, Wenatchee Valley College Extend Stadium Lease

PRESS RELEASE – The Wenatchee AppleSox and Wenatchee Valley College have signed a new agreement to extend the team’s lease at Paul Thomas Sr. Field for the next four seasons. The AppleSox have played at Paul Thomas Sr. Field on the campus of Wenatchee Valley College since the team’s inaugural season in 2000. Fans Select New AppleSox Team Hat

PRESS RELEASE – The AppleSox will feature a new hat design when the players take the field for the 2011 season. In a closely contested race the AppleSox alternate “Sox” logo on a red crown and a blue bill won the weeklong online fan poll with 41.7% of the vote. AppleSox Tee Up Eventual Move to Recreation Park

The summer collegiate West Coast League’s Wenatchee (WA) AppleSox have outgrown Paul Thomas Stadium on the campus of Wenatchee Valley College.  Over the past couple of years, AppleSox owner Jim Corcoran has been working a deal that would allow his team to relocate to 73-year-old Recreation Park.  While the tough economy has hampered his fundraising efforts, Corcoran is laying the groundwork for $5 to $8 million in renovations to the ballpark that would make this move a reality.  Read more here.
