Wizards Officially, Officially For Sale

Wizards’ Season Saved, Opposing Coucilwoman Now ‘a Team Player’
Watertown (NY) Councilwoman Roxanne Burns changed her mind last night and voted with her colleagues to renew the summer collegiate Watertown Wizards’ lease agreement for the use of Alex T. Duffy Fairgrounds. Burns had been opposed to the renewal but decided to be “a team player” and give the council the super-majority vote needed to approve the deal. Read more here.

Wizards Pay Up, Seek Lease Extension
The Watertown (NY) City Council will consider tonight a one-year lease extension for the New York Collegiate Baseball League’s Watertown Wizards to continue using Alex T. Duffy Fairgrounds. Lease discussions were reportedly put on hold until the Wizards paid a $46,o0o debt owed to the city that was discovered in the mismanaged books of the city’s parks and recreation department. City Mulling Takeover of Concessions at Watertown Ballpark
The Perfect Game League’s Watertown (NY) Wizards are in negotiations with the city to extend their lease agreement at Alex T. Duffy Fairgrounds. The Wizards currently operate their own concessions, with the city receiving 10 percent of gross food and beverage sales. However, the city may want more, including actual control over concessions.
