New Videoboard Installed at Riverfront Stadium

The latest star attraction at Riverfront Stadium, home of the Waterloo Bucks (Summer Collegiate, Northwoods League), doesn’t swing a bat or throw a ball.  It’s a new, state-of-the-art Daktronics video board installed above the right field wall.  Read more here.

Bucks Getting New Video Board

The Waterloo Bucks (Summer Collegiate, Northwoods League) will finally have replay abilities, live game action and promotional and advertising capabilities on a Major League Baseball-sized LED screen to replace the aging, malfunctioning one currently in the outfield at Riverfront Stadium.  Read more here.

 

Kernels Finalize Purchase of Bucks

PRESS RELEASE – The sale of the Waterloo Bucks of the Northwoods League to the Cedar Rapids Ball Club, Inc. (d.b.a. Cedar Rapids Kernels) is official. Cedar Rapids Ball Club, Inc. President Gary Keoppel, Kernels General Manager Doug Nelson and Waterloo Bucks General Manager Dan Corbin were on hand for the official signing today.

New 10-Year Lease Approved for Bucks

The Waterloo (IA) City Council voted unanimously Monday to approve a new 10-year lease of Riverfront Stadium for the new owners of the summer collegiate Waterloo Bucks (Northwoods League).  Read more here.

Single-A Kernels in Talks to Buy Summer Collegiate Bucks

The Single-A Cedar Rapids Kernels (Midwest League) are in talks to buy the summer collegiate Waterloo Bucks (Northwoods League).  The purchase has already been approved by the Midwest League and the President of Minor League Baseball.  There are still a few other hoops to jump through here, but it looks like a done deal.  Read more and view news report here.

Bucks Release 20th Season Logo, Announce Plans for Fan Favorite Team

PRESS RELEASE – The Waterloo Bucks have released their 20th-Season logo and have announced plans for their fans to pick a “fan favorite” team. The 20th-season logo, designed by Ed Flack of Hellman Associates, will be used interchangeably during the 2014 season with the current Bucks’ family of logos.

Bucks Announce Grandquist as GM

PRESS RELEASE – The Waterloo Bucks have announced the hiring of Clayton Grandquist as the team’s new Assistant General Manager/Director of Stadium Operations.  Grandquist will join General Manager Dan Corbin in the front office for the 20^th season of Bucks Baseball.

PRESS RELEASE – The Waterloo Bucks, members of the Northwoods League, have announced that 1650 The Fan, Cruisin’ 1250, and 1650thefan.com will be the home to the Bucks Baseball Radio Network in 2012. All of Waterloo’s 70 home and road games will be broadcast live on 1650 AM, 1250 AM, and/or online at 1650thefan.com.

Kleinhans-Shulz Announced as Bucks Voice for 2011

PRESS RELEASE – The Waterloo Bucks, members of the Northwoods League, have announced that Chris Kleinhans-Schulz will serve as the Bucks’ radio announcer for the 2011 season.  Kleinhans-Schulz will begin his first summer as the voice of the Bucks on June 1 when Waterloo opens the season on the road against the Battle Creek Bombers.

Tiger Woods Invited to Throw Out the ‘First Spit”

PRESS RELEASE – The Waterloo Bucks, members of the Northwoods League, have invited Tiger Woods to spit on the Riverfront Stadium field at their June 4 home opener. Woods, who was recently fined and criticized for spitting on the green during the final round of the Dubai Desert Classic, has not only been invited to throw out the “First Spit,” but also the ceremonial First Pitch.

Bucks to Open 2010 Season at Renovated Riverfront Stadium

Riverfront Stadium, home of the summer collegiate Northwoods League’s Waterloo (IA) Bucks, has had a complete undercarriage makeover with new locker rooms and team offices.  View photos here.  Read more here.  The entire underbelly of the park was destroyed when the Cedar River completely flooded the facility in 2008.  The outside of the park has also been spruced up since we visited in 2003.

Refurbishing Waterloo’s Riverfront Stadium

PRESS RELEASE – During the summer of 2008 the Waterloo Bucks and historic Riverfront Stadium were acutely affected by flooding. Floodwaters damaged or destroyed many points of Riverfront including offices, concessions stands, restrooms, locker rooms, souvenir stand, ticket windows, storage areas, and party deck, and totally covered the playing field.
