Sweets Hire Monty as New Voice

PRESS RELEASE – Ohio native Brandon Monty will be the play-by-by broadcaster and director of media relations for the 2020 season. Currently a senior at Ohio University, Monty spent last summer as the play-by-play broadcaster of the Mat-Su Miners of the Alaska Baseball League. Monty also broadcasts for BobcatTV at OU for the soccer, field hockey, women’s basketball and baseball teams.

Walla Walla Sweets Name New GM

PRESS RELEASE – – The Sweets have named a new general manager, promoting assistant general manager Dan Ferguson to the post for the 2018 season. Fraser to Assume Duties as Pippins GM

Yakima Valley Pippins PrimaryZachary Fraser, who serves as chief operating officer of the Pacific Baseball Ventures ownership group which owns both the Yakima Valley Pippins and Walla Walla Sweets of the summer collegiate West Coast League, will step in as general manager of the Pippins for the 2015 season.  The group has had difficulty finding the right person for the job after Noel Zanchelli was let go at mid-season last year.  Read more here.

Cheney Renovations Continue, Sale of Rainiers on Deck?

While Cheney Stadium is in the midst of a major facelift, the Baseball Club of Tacoma, a local group of investors led by Trilogy Equity Partners co-founder Mikal Thomsen, plans to begin negotiations to buy the Triple-A Tacoma Rainiers from SDL Baseball Partners.  Thomsen is part owner of the summer collegiate West Coast League’s Walla Walla Sweets and previously owned a piece of the NBA’s Seattle Supersonics.  Read more here.

Fans Pack West Coast League Parks in Corvallis and Walla Walla

A crowd of 2,930 at Goss Field in Corvallis highlighted July 3rd action in the West Coast League, as fans celebrated the holiday. The Knights topped the Bellingham Bells 4-1 for their 7th consecutive win. Meanwhile, a standing room only turnout of 1,741 in Walla Walla saw the Sweets get past the Moses Lake Pirates 5-2.

Big Crowd Set for Walla Walla Sweets Inaugural Home Opener
