Council Approves Funding for Ballpark Improvements
As a follow up to our previous post on the issue, the Cedar Rapids (IA) City Council voted Tuesday to provide $1.5 million in funding for capital improvements to Veterans Memorial Stadium, home of the Single-A Cedar Rapids Kernels (Midwest League), over the next decade. Kernels Propose $3-Million Ballpark Fund

City to Spend $150k to Repair Kernels’ Ballpark
The City of Cedar Rapids (IA) plans to spend $150,o00 to make repairs to nine-year-old Veterans Memorial Stadium, home of the Single-A Cedar Rapids Kernels. The funds will be used to fix a leaky roof, drainage problems, and replace field lighting. Action by the city was spurred by a tiff between the Veterans Memorial Commission and the Kernels over lease terms and compliance therewith. Read more here.
