United Shore League Operating in the Black, Begins Fourth Season May 10

Andy Appleby, chief investor in a small group that launched the Utica (MI)-based United Shore Professional Baseball League in 2016, said the endeavor that combines developmental baseball with affordable family fun should again be as financially profitable as its first three seasons.  Appleby said he’s in talks with four or five expansion cities.  Read more here.

ESPN3 to Feature USPBL Games this Season

PRESS RELEASE – The United Shore Professional Baseball League will broadcast selected games on ESPN3 this season at Jimmy John’s Field in historic downtown Utica, announced Owner and CEO Andy Appleby on Thursday. The USPBL is the only professional baseball organization to feature games on ESPN3.

United Shore League Wraps Up Successful Sophomore Season at Jimmy John’s Field

The United Shore Professional Baseball League wrapped up its sophomore season Sunday with a 4,050 fans gathered at Jimmy John’s Field in Utica (MI) for the developmental league’s title game.  On the season, the USPBL averaged 3,350 fans per game and sold out 60 of its 75 games — up from 42 last season.  Read more here.

United Shore Season Begins Today, Appleby Eyes Massive Midwest Expansion

United Shore Professional Baseball LeagueToday marks the launch of the three-team developmental United Shore Professional Baseball League at the new 2,000-seat, $15-million Jimmy John’s Field.  But according to owner Andy Appleby, former owner of the Fort Wayne Wizards (Single-A, Midwest League), this is just the beginning.  He envisions expanding the USPBL to 20 teams in 10 Midwest stadiums over the next decade.  By 2017, he wants at least four to six teams playing, and 10 to 12 teams by 2020.  Read more here.

Construction Begins on United Shore League Ballpark in Utica (MI), Name the Teams Contest Underway

United Shore Baseball League LogoProgress is being made on Jimmy Johns Field, the minor league ballpark currently under construction in Utica (MI) for a new three-team independent professional league called the United Shore Professional Baseball League.  The $12 million project is being privately funded and is led by Rochester-based General Sports and Entertainment.  The team names have been narrowed down the the following: 59’ers, Beavers, Blue Collars, Diamond Hoppers, Fizz, Mud Pups, Rally Caps, River Rats, Screeching Cicadas, Stags, Steelheads and Unicorns.  Read more here.
