White Sox Ballpark Gets New Name

Chicago White Sox LogoU.S. Cellular Field, home of the Chicago White Sox, will be called Guaranteed Rate Field beginning November 1. A 13-year deal gives the mortgage lender the naming rights for the team’s ballpark.  Read more here.

U.S. Cellular Exits Chicago Market, Keeps Name on Ballpark

Chicago-based U.S. Cellular has decided to throw in the towel in the Chicago market, but it still plans to keep its name on U.S. Cellular Field, home of the Chicago White Sox.  The company pays $3.5 million per year for the ballpark’s naming rights.  Read more here.

Rough Season for Chicagoland Beer Vendors

Beer sales are reportedly down 30 percent at Wrigley Field and U.S. Cellular Field.  Arguably, “The weather, the losses, and the no-shows…” are at least part of the problem.  Attendance is down 2,313 and 1,117 per game for the Cubs and White Sox, respectively, so far this season.  Read more here.
