Entrepreneur Tim Bennett, who is conducting a research study into the feasibility of building a new 4,000-seat baseball stadium in Jackson (MS) for college and other amateur teams, said the city of Jackson has yet to execute the $25,000 contract it approved on Dec. 2. Still, Bennett plans to present his preliminary findings to the mayor and the council before the end of the month. Read more here.

Despite a team in nearby Pearl (MS), Tim Bennett, president of Jackson (MS)-based Overtime Sports and co-owner of the Double-A Huntsville Stars (Southern League) relocating to Biloxi (MS), is taking another run at bringing minor league baseball back to Jackson. A site being targeted for a proposed new ballpark is at the corner of Mill and Hamilton streets in the historic Farish Street District. Read more here. The developing baseball stadium project in Biloxi (MS) appears to be alive and well, but as the window closes for 2014, Overtime Sports chief Tim Bennett says “It’s getting to the point where we may have to look at 2015, or try to start the season in another city and move it to Biloxi at mid-season next year.” Read more here and here.
