The Virginia Alcoholic Beverage Control Authority (ABC) and the Department of General Services (DGS) have announced a preferred relocation site in Mechanicsville (VA). ABC’s current location is across the street from The Diamond and could be the landing spot for a new baseball stadium for the Richmond Flying Squirrels (Double-A, Eastern League) and VCU. Greener Pastures Not So Green
A. Barton Hinkle, senior editorial writer and columnist at the Richmond Times-Dispatch, takes a dim and seemingly bitter look at the status of Triple-A ball in Gwinnett County (GA). As you recall, the Richmond Braves (International League) left Richmond (VA) and The Diamond for brand new $64 million ballpark outside Atlanta (GA). City: Ballpark to be Home for New Veterans Memorial
Thousands of fans make their way out to The Diamond to see the Single-A Lake Elsinore Storm (California League) each season, which is the reason the Lake Elsinore City Council has decided to place the city’s new veterans memorial along the walkway leading to the stadium. Read more here.
