Inaugural Rougarou Will Scramble to Complete Ballpark Improvements
The Baton Rouge Rougarou (Summer Collegiate, Texas Collegiate League) will take to the home diamond at Pete Goldsby Field for the first time on May 31, but the team will have less than 10 days to begin and complete improvements that will include 200 new seats, netting system, sound system, and kid zone. Victoria’s Riverside Stadium Gets New Turf
Workers from Hellas Construction install artificial turf on the infield at Riverside Stadium in Victoria (TX), home of the University of Houston-Victoria baseball team and the Victoria Generals (Summer Collegiate, Texas Collegiate League). The old turf was ruined when the Guadalupe River flooded after Hurricane Harvey. Read more here.

Pump Jacks Relocate to Tyler
At a press conference Monday, the owners of the East Texas Pump Jacks (Summer Collegiate, Texas Collegiate League) announced the team’s relocation from historic Driller Park in Kilgore (TX) to Irwin Field on the campus of the University of Texas at Tyler. Bringhurst Field Clubhouse Destroyed by Fire
The clubhouse and office at Bringhurst Field, former home of the Alexandria Aces in Alexandria (LA), went up in flames around noon on Saturday. The fire, which is still under investigation, reportedly resulted in a total loss of the building. Numerous folks have chimed in, including Eric Moran, majority owner of the dormant Texas Collegiate League version of the Aces, and “former” indy pro United League executive Craig Brasfield. Brazos Valley Bombers Grow Front Office Staff

The Alexandria Aces (United League Baseball) opened in front of a whopping 552 fans on Thursday night at partially condemned Bringhurst Field. Read more here. This is not good news for the franchise that was revived as an independent professional club after the summer collegiate version (Texas Collegiate League) went dark when it was clear the city would not fix the stadium before the 2013 season.

City to Issue RFP for Bringhurst
The city of Alexandria (LA) is expected to soon issue a request for proposal for renovating historic Bringhurst Field, home of the summer collegiate Alexandria Aces (Texas Collegiate League). Indoor Football League Team Owner Exploring Pro Baseball for Lake Charles (LA)
Chris Meaux, president of the Professional Indoor Football League’s Louisiana Swashbucklers, says he is in preliminary discussions with a group willing to help him bring an indy pro North American League franchise to Lake Charles (LA). White on Bringhurst: Wrecking Ball Must Go Through Me First
Jodie White, who retired as Alexandria’s parks and recreation director in 2007, isn’t too happy about any talk of tearing down Bringhurst Field, home of the summer collegiate Alexandria Aces (Texas Collegiate League). He says any demolition will have to go through him first. As reported last week, the city planned to close the stadium after safety concerns were raised about the facility’s stuctural integrity. TCL Targets Louisiana for Expansion
Make no mistake about it, the Texas Collegiate League is looking to expand, and that includes venturing deeper into Louisiana to compliment the TCL’s Alexandria Aces and Acadiana Cane Cutters. In fact, TCL President Uri Geva even mentioned last night during the live broadcast of the 2012 TCL All-Star Game that he would see a Louisiana division for the circuit. Strykers Sign Long-Term Lease, But No Beer Sales
The expansion summer collegiate Woodlands Strykers (Texas Collegiate League) will be adding 600 new seats to the ballpark at The Woodlands Christian Academy as part of a five-year lease deal.
