Can-Am League Teams Get in the ‘Game’

The Sussex County Miners and New Jersey Jackals (Independent Professional, Can-Am League) are celebrating the final season of HBO’s Game of Thrones with special jerseys.  Of course, these are not the first and only teams to capitalize on the phenomenon.   The Staten Island Yankees (Single-A, New York-Penn League), for example, actually hosted the show’s creator in 2015.  And lets not forget about MLB’s promo video from last season.

Grand Opening Saturday for Skylands Stadium Sports Academy

New Amenities Added to Skylands Stadium, New GM Takes the Reins

Miners Sign-On for Three More Seasons

Star Wars Nights Across the Minor League Baseball Universe

Every team out there seems to be holding Star Wars Night, so it has become a bit of a yawner when it comes to uniqueness, but the Brooklyn Cyclones (Single-A, New-York Penn League) have taken things to a different dimension:

“Imitation lightsabers, cosplay robes, hot dogs, and the chicken dance were all folded into a deeply bizarre spectacle as the Cyclones chose to eschew the original film scripts and instead tell a story that runs afoul of Star Wars canon.”  Read more and watch videos here.

Skyland Stadium Hosts Grand Slam Beer Fest

The smell of bratwurst filled the air as attendees sipped beer and watched a game of baseball at the first Grand Slam Beer Fest, held at Skylands Stadium over the weekend. 2016 Cooperstown Can-Am Classic Announced

PRESS RELEASE – The Rockland Boulders, in conjunction with the Sussex County Miners, announced today that the two teams will meet at Doubleday Field in historic Cooperstown, New York for the second annual Cooperstown Can-Am Classic on Tuesday, July 26 at 1:00pm.

Wheelhouse Kitchen & Bar Set to Open at Skylands Stadium

Pro Ball Returns to Sussex Stadium

The Sussex County Miners (Indy Pro, Can-Am League) opened their inaugural home stand on Monday night in front of a crowd of 3,819 at Skylands Stadium.  This is the first time the ballpark has hosted professional baseball since the Sussex Skyhawks (Indy Pro, Can-Am League) folded in 2011.  Read more here.  View photo here.

Miners Hold Exhibition Game Before Inaugural Home Opener on Memorial Day

Saturday’s game between the Sussex County Miners and the New Jersey Jackals (Indy Pro, Can-Am League) was just an exhibition, but it was the first time since the Sussex Skyhawks (Indy Pro, Can-Am League) closed up shop in 2011 that professional baseball players took the field at Skylands Stadium.  The team’s first home game will be on Memorial Day, May 25, at 7:05 p.m.  Read more here.

Semi-Pro Football Returns to Resuscitated Skylands Park/Stadium

The Sussex County Miners (Indy Pro, Can-Am League) won’t be the only team taking up residence at Skylands Stadium this season.  A football team called the Sussex Stags (Semi-Pro, Empire Football League), Formerly the New Jersey Stags when they played at then-Skylands Park from 2010-11, will be back playing this summer after a four-year hiatus.  Read more here.  Thanks to John Cerone for the heads up.

Sussex County Miners Name Director of Broadcasting & Media Relations

PRESS RELEASE – The Sussex County Miners, New Jersey’s newest independent professional baseball team, announced today that it has named Andrew Luftglass as Director of Broadcasting and Media Relations.
