Boulton Given Green Light to Search for Atlantic City Team Owner

The Atlantic City (NJ) City Council has authorized Frank Boulton, the former owner of the Atlantic City Surf (Independent Professional, Can-Am League/Atlantic League) to find an ownership group willing to bring minor league baseball back to Surf Stadium.  Read more here.

Boulton Makes Pitch for Surf Stadium

Atlantic City Tees Up ‘The Sandcastle’ for Future Team

Two Bidders for Atlantic City’s Bader Field

Atlantic City SurfTwo companies made bids for Bader Field on Thursday.  Legend Properties, based in Cherry Hill, and Bader Field Development LLC, located in Long Branch, were reportedly the only two to offer money for the former municipal airport adjacent to The Sandcastle, former home of the Atlantic City Surf (Independent Professional, Can-Am League/Atlantic League).  Read more and view map here.  Thanks to John Cerone for the link.

Baseball Back at The Sandcastle

Atlantic City SurfThe Atlantic Shore baseball team is hosting the Babe Ruth Mid-Atlantic Regional 13- to 15-year-old tournament at Surf Stadium (formerly known as “The Sandcastle”), the former home of the now-defunct indy pro Atlantic City Surf (Atlantic League/Can-Am League).  No lights, but the field looks great.  Read more and watch video here.  Thanks to John Cerone for the link.

Atlantic City Baseball Fans Hang Hopes on New Diamond League

Diamond League LogoIn not-so-surprising news, Atlantic League CEO Frank Boulton said Thursday that his developing new short-season circuit — the indy pro Diamond League — has an interest in putting a team in Atlantic City (NJ).  That said, the city doesn’t appear to be rushing to the table, and 16-year-old Surf Stadium (akaThe Sandcastle) would need a few more fixes.  Read more here.  Thanks to John Cerone for the link.

The Sandcastle to be Renamed Surf Stadium

Signaling a new day for baseball in Atlantic City (NJ), the city council is expected to vote Wednesday to change the name of Sandcastle Stadium, former home of the indy pro Atlantic City Surf (Atlantic League/Can-Am League), to Surf Stadium.  Officals are also expected to award a contract to Georgia Golf Construction, Inc. to install new turf and improve the infield.  Read more here.
