City Reduces Subsidy to Ports

Stockton Ports LogoThe city of Stockton (CA) and the Single-A Stockton Ports (California League) have agreed to amend the team’s contract to play at Stockton Ballpark.  Stockton officials say the changes will reduce the city’s current $400,000 annual subsidy to the team by about $112,500.  The city is restructuring its debts as part of a Chapter 9 bankruptcy.  The Ports’ contract runs through 2044.  Read more here.

So Stick Our Ballpark in Your Forbes Pipe and Smoke It!

Stockton Record staff writer Lori Gilbert takes offense at Stockton (CA) being listed by Forbes magazine as a one of America’s Most Miserable Cities back in February.  Apparently, Forbes failed to take into consideration beautiful Stockton Ballpark (aka Banner Island Ballpark), home of the Single-A Stockton Ports, in reaching its brutal conclusion.  Read more here.
