Godfather media has announced that attorney Michael L. Leyva, has been named General Counsel and Edward A. Wong has been named Controller for the developing indy pro American West Baseball League. Both are former partners in the defunt indy pro St. George Roadrunners (Golden Baseball League) and Hot Corner Baseball, LLC. Read Godfather press releases here and here.
Godfather Media, the new owner of the indy pro Yuma Scorpions (North American League), has announced that William M. Joyce will serve as president of the franchise. Read more here. Joyce was the CEO of Hot Corner Baseball, which owned and operated the indy pro St. George Roadrunners (Golden Baseball League) when the team’s operations were suspended before the end of the 2010 season. No suprise here, but Hot Corner Baseball, the St. George (UT) Roadrunners’s ownership group, has ceased operations because of financial troubles. The league has assumed control of the Roadrunners to keep the team afloat for the rest of the season. The league also recently took control of the Yuma (AZ) Scorpions under similar circumstances. Just when you thought the last rights had been given to the Golden Baseball League’s St. George (UT) Roadrunners, in comes Hot Corner Baseball, LLC led by San Diego businessman Will Joyce to take over control of the franchise from Triple Play Baseball LLC. This means that the Roadrunners are back in the game for the 2010 season. Joyce apparently has ties to southern Utah. Read more here.
The Golden Baseball League’s Roadrunners have called it quits. XnE, Inc. was poised to take over ownership control of the team, but the group is no longer involved. This is not surpising, as the financial projections thrown around by XnE for the St. George club (and the four other proposed franchises in Hawaii ) are unrealistic. Read more here.
XnE, Inc. (aka Xcellence in Entertainment) has announced that it has paid $800,000 to acquire the exclusive rights to operate four Golden Baseball League franchises on the Hawaiian Islands. The first team is expected to be located on Maui at War Memorial Complex. Read more here.
