South Bend Cubs Unveil Logos, Uniform Design

South Bend Cubs Primary LogoThe Single-A South Bend Cubs (Midwest League) unveiled new logos, colors and team apparel, including a new home jersey, Thursday during a press event held in the Upper Deck at Four Winds Field in downtown South Bend (IN).  The team was formerly known as the South Bend Silver Hawks.  Studio Simon handled the design duties.  View press release here.

South Bend Silver Hawks Now ‘South Bend Cubs’

Coveleski Stadium’s Synagogue Gift Shop

Silver Hawks Announce Ballpark Naming Rights Agreement

Silver Hawks Paint Visiting Team’s Locker Room Pink

SouthBendSilverHawksLogoThe Single-A South Bend Silver Hawks (Midwest League) are playing dirty…er…sweet.  They have painted the visiting team’s locker room at Coveleski Stadium a wonderful shade of pink and added flowers for a delightful ambiance.  The change was part of a $600,000 renovation of the facility during the off season.  Read more and view news report here.

Star Wars Night Tonight in South Bend

Returning once again to Coveleski Stadium for 2012 is Star Wars Night.  The Silver Hawks will welcome characters from the iconic films to the ballpark and encourage fans to wear their favorite outfits from the movies.  The team will be giving away Silver Hawks replica home jerseys to the first 1,000 kids.  More info here.

Silver Hawks Unveil Stadium Upgrades, Announce New President

Andrew Berlin, the new owner of the Single-A South Bend Silver Hawks, unveiled $3.75 million in renovations today that will be done to Coveleski Stadium in time for the 2012 season.  $2 million will come from the team, and the other $1.75 will be covered by the city.  Read more hereView renderings here. Long-Term Lease Approved for S’Hawks, Upgrades Planned

The South Bend (IN) parks board has approved a 20-year ballpark lease with the new owner of the Single-A South Bend Silver Hawks (Midwest League), Chicago businessman Andrew Berlin.  Berlin has a few upgrades planned for Coveleski Stadium, including the addition of a playground and climbing wall.  There is also talk of adding a splash pad and miniature golf course.  The city is expected to spend Continue reading

Silver Hawks Get New Owner

The current owners of the Single-A South Bend Siver Hawks (Midwest League) have reportedly reached an agreement to sell the team to Andrew T. Berlin, chairman and chief executive officer of Chicago-based Berlin Packaging and a limited partner in the Chicago White Sox, for an undisclosed sum.  Read more here.

Kernan: Silver Hawks Not Sold

Amid rumors that the Single-A South Bend Silver Hawks (Midwest League) have been sold, team president John Kernan made a brief statement this afternoon indicating the the team has not been sold, is not moving, and is not trying to change its MLB affiliation.  However, new investors are apparently welcome.  Read more here.

Coveleski to Get Major Makeover

Coveleski Stadium, home of the South Bend (IN) Silver Hawks, is expected to get a $10 million makeover before the 2011 season.  $5 million will come from a federal Recovery Zone Economic Development bond, $2 million will come from tax increment financing (TIF), and $3 million will come frome previously collected income tax dollars that have been stockpiled by the city for major projects.  Read more here.
