With millions of dollars coming into downtown South Bend (IN), the city is growing quickly and attracting people from across the country. Some prime city-owned parcels around South Winds Field, home of the South Bend Cubs (Single-A, Midwest League), were put up for sale Thursday, but no offers were received. Nonetheless, city officials remain hopeful of making something big happen around the ballpark, similar to development in Fort Wayne. Read more here.
The Single-A South Bend Cubs (Midwest League) unveiled new logos, colors and team apparel, including a new home jersey, Thursday during a press event held in the Upper Deck at Four Winds Field in downtown South Bend (IN). Just beyond the left-field fence at Coveleski Stadium, home to the Single-A South Bend Silver Hawks (Midwest League), a synagogue sat unused for years. When Andrew Berlin, who is Jewish, purchased the Silver Hawks in 2011, he overlooked the dilapidated building and developed a vision for saving it. Read more and view photo here.
